Chelsea make a major signing. It is official for Xabi Alonso's side: the club has signed Morgan Rogers. The Aston Villa striker, 23, has been purchased for 137 million euros, the most expensive deal in the Blues' history. The English attacking midfielder has signed a contract until June 2032 — with an option for a further season — becoming the club's record signing and the most expensive British player of all time. Rogers is the third Premier League signing this summer to surpass the 100 million euro mark, following Elliot Anderson's move from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City for 135 million and Sandro Tonali's transfer, for which Tottenham paid Newcastle 107 million. Meanwhile, Mateus Fernandes has moved from West Ham to Tottenham for 99 million euros. Rogers, fresh from international duty with England, is Xabi Alonso's third signing for the squad, after Marco Palestra and Geovanny Quenda. "I'm very excited about the project, the new manager, the players we have and the direction the club is heading. That's why I'm here and I can't wait to get started," Rogers said.
