The ACT chief police officer says a young person was stabbed in a "concerning" incident in Belconnen this morning.
Police allege four people were throwing objects at passing vehicles on Coulter Drive.
ACT Policing Deputy Commissioner Scott Lee told ABC Radio Canberra that one person got out of his vehicle after something was thrown at his car and was stabbed multiple times.
"An object was thrown at a motor vehicle and the driver's got out of the motor vehicle and he's ... suffered multiple stab wounds,"he said.
"And then that individual, that young person, after that incident has taken himself home and then his parents have got him to hospital."
He said that while that person's condition had been stabilised, "our thoughts and prayers do go to him and his family".
'Multiple calls made to police'
The four people allegedly involved in the incident are still at large, Deputy Commissioner Lee said.
"Those people remain outstanding, so what I would ask is for anyone that has information in relation to these people we would ask you to come forward and talk to police as a matter of priority this morning," he said.
"Either do that directly to the ACT Police and Communications Centre or via Crime Stoppers.
"It is an active investigation this morning and we've got our crime team investigating this incident along with our general duties teams as well."
Deputy Commissioner Lee said there were "multiple calls" made to police this morning about objects being thrown at a number of vehicles.
A crime scene has been established and traffic is being disrupted.
