NEW YORK, October 7. /TASS/. US actress and Academy Award winner Eva Marie Saint has died at the age of 102, the Variety magazine reported.

Saint was born in 1924 in Newark, New Jersey, and began her television and film career in the 1940s. In 1955, she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "On the Waterfront" (1954). In 1959, she played one of her best-known roles as Eve Kendall in Alfred Hitchcock’s adventure thriller "North by Northwest" (1959).

Saint also appeared in "Grand Prix" (1966), "The Best Little Girl in the World" (1981), "Nothing in Common" (1986), and the miniseries "People Like Us" (1990), for which she won an Emmy Award.
