Had a stressful week? Then take advantage of a free yoga session this Sunday (20) at the free span of Masp (São Paulo Museum of Art), from 10am to 11am. This will be one of the highlights of the second day of the Virada Esportiva in the state capital.

Water activities at the Guarapiranga reservoir, in the southern zone of São Paulo, were among the highlights of the opening of the series of events held across the city this Saturday (19). Those who head there can try bungee jumping and canoeing, as well as jet skiing, banana boating and boat rides. The water activities run from 10am to 5pm.

According to the city hall, this is the largest edition in the event's history. There will be more than 4,000 free activities at 800 locations across all regions of the capital through this Sunday. The programme ranges from traditional sports to options such as chess, electronic games, dancing and pickleball (a kind of mix of table tennis, tennis and badminton).

According to the schedule, Avenida Paulista, which is closed to vehicle traffic on Sundays, will be one of the main venues of the Virada.

Between Alameda Campinas and Rua Joaquim Eugênio de Lima, from 10am to 3pm, people will be able to take part in hyrox challenges — the current fitness craze that combines running and conditioning exercises.

There will also be fencing, rugby, beach golf, archery and climbing.

At the Baby Barioni Sports Complex, in Água Branca, in the western zone, parkour and slackline structures have been set up.

The schedule extends to the city's outermost areas. At CEU (Unified Educational Centre) Parelheiros, in the southern zone, there will be an open hydrodance class, an activity that combines dancing and exercises in the pool.

At CEU Perus, in the far north, the public will be able to take part in a martial arts festival and practise jiu-jitsu, even those who have never tried it before.

At the Vicente Ítalo Feola Sports Centre, in Vila Manchester, in the eastern zone, there will be taiko and eisa performances featuring traditional Japanese drums, as well as an open class in kobudo, a traditional martial art.

At the José Ermírio de Moraes Sports Centre, in Vila Curuçá, also in the eastern zone, Sunday is set to be highlighted by the National K1 Light Tournament (a form of combat sport), from 9am to 9pm.

For children and families, a kids' arena has been set up at Parque do Carmo, in the eastern zone, featuring inflatable toys, skateboarding, slackline, dancing and children's performances.
