Dominic Alexander Carbonari has appeared in a Tasmanian court charged with the murder of a 48-year-old man in the state's north-west.
The 42-year-old Tarleton man appeared in the Devonport Magistrates Court via video link from Risdon Prison on Friday afternoon.
Tasmania Police have alleged emergency services arrived at a Railton home on Wednesday morning after receiving reports that a man had been assaulted.
In a statement, police alleged Mr Carbonari had left the scene and was arrested at a nearby location shortly after.
The accused was charged on Thursday, after the Railton man died at the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Police said the men knew each other.
Magistrate Duncan Fairley adjourned the matter to October 26.
Mr Carbonari will remain in custody until then.
