MOSCOW, October 6. /TASS/. The overnight attempt by Ukrainian drones to attack Moscow was one of the largest in the past two years, according to TASS calculations based on data released by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin.

According to the mayor, 650 UAVs headed toward the Moscow Region between 8 p.m. Moscow time on October 5 and 5 a.m. on October 6 (5 p.m. - 2 a.m. GMT). "Most were destroyed by air defenses at long range. Another 105 drones were destroyed on approach to Moscow," Sobyanin wrote on his Max channel.

According to the mayor, air defenses repelled the largest drone attack between September 19 and the morning of September 20, shooting down more than 1,600 UAVs, including 450 on approach to Moscow. Another major attack took place between the evening of August 15 and 6:30 a.m. Moscow time on August 16, when 600 UAVs headed toward the capital, 201 of which were destroyed in the Moscow Region. A further major attack was recorded between 8:00 a.m. Moscow time on September 2 and noon on September 3: 548 UAVs headed toward the Moscow Region, with most destroyed at long range and 143 on approach to the city.
