Mumbai: BJP minister Ashish Shelar visited the Kalachowki electrocution victims’ families at KEM Hospital and urged all Ganesh mandals to be more vigilant. He said it is essential that every mandal strictly adheres to safety rules. He said BMC and police have been asked to make the necessary arrangements so that the body of one of the victims can be taken to her village. “Police have registered an FIR, and instructions have been given to collect all evidence and proceed with further action,” said Shelar.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA

Aaditya Thackeray called the deaths extremely tragic.

Congress sought an immediate impartial inquiry and questioned the administration’s culpability. “Do the govt and the administration’s responsibilities end after two devotees lose their lives? Grand announcements are made in Mumbai in the name of festivals, but why is there negligence in making proper arrangements for the safety of devotees? This is not just an accident but an incident that raises serious questions about the administration’s negligence,” it said in a statement.
