The validation hearing for the detention of Ridha Rahmounim, the 26-year-old Tunisian national accused of murdering Salerno sports journalist Luigi "Luca" Esposito, is scheduled for 9 a.m. at Salerno prison, before investigating judge Giandomenico D'Agostino. The young man, charged with aggravated murder and destruction of a corpse, is defended by lawyer Giovanni Mauri. According to the prosecution, the suspect, who was in the country illegally and subject to a repatriation order, allegedly killed the 53-year-old during the night of July 18-19 on agricultural land in the Cioffi area of Eboli, before setting his body on fire. The 26-year-old was tracked down and detained by the Carabinieri in an abandoned farmhouse in the area at the conclusion of an intensive investigative operation, supported by fingerprints, mobile phone cell analysis and other evidence gathered by investigators. The motive has been classified as secret by investigators, who have only described it as being of a private and personal nature. Today's hearing will serve to assess the request to validate the detention and any precautionary measures to be taken against the suspect.
