LONDON, September 28. /TASS/. The average cost of diesel fuel in the United Kingdom has reached a historic high of 1.9918 pounds ($2.65) per liter, according to the automotive services company RAC.
The previous record was set in June 2022 and totaled 1.9909 pounds per liter. As a result, filling up a typical family car with a 55-liter tank will now cost 110 pounds ($146), which is 31 pounds ($41) more than before the war in Iran began.
The record-high diesel price "will mean extra costs not just for motorists at the pumps, but for anyone buying goods or services whose delivery or provision depends on diesel trucks and vans," said Simon Williams, the RAC’s head of policy. The costs resulting from the increased price of diesel "will be passed on to consumers," he added.
Gasoline prices have also hit a new high since late February, reaching 1.74 pounds ($2.31) per liter, with the average cost of a full tank now at 95.8 pounds ($127). This is 22.8 pounds ($30.3) more than before the US and Israel began launching strikes against Iran.
