A 43-year-old man of Moroccan origin died late this morning in the Pilastro area of Bologna. According to reports, a police check was underway in Via Svevo: residents had called 113 after the man had flown into a rage in the garage area.

A patrol car arrived on the scene and – based on initial information – so did the 118 emergency services. The man allegedly struck the police patrol car; officers, in the presence of medical personnel, then reportedly sprayed the man with pepper spray and secured him with zip ties on his wrists. The 42-year-old, according to initial reports, then suffered a sudden illness and died.
