This Saturday, September 19, Juana Viale hosted La Noche de Mirtha (El Trece) for the third consecutive time. Just hours after it became known that La Chiqui had been hospitalized again — only five days after being discharged and amid growing concern over her health — the host sought to reassure viewers about her grandmother's condition.
It was on September 4 that Mirtha raised alarm when she missed the taping of her program due to a series of symptoms linked to a severe cold, which led to her hospitalization at the Sanatorio Mater Dei, where she remained until the 13th of this month.
For this reason, Juana Viale not only continued hosting her own program, Almorzando con Juana, but also took over La Noche de Mirtha.
Although Legrand had already planned not to take part in the taping of her television show scheduled for this week — despite having been discharged — the 99-year-old host set off alarm bells again on Friday afternoon, the 18th, when it was confirmed she had to be hospitalized once more with a condition consistent with pulmonary disease, as reported by the medical institution in a statement signed by its medical director, Dr. Enrique Echagüe.
In this context, at the start of the program — which featured guests Martín Menem, Jésica Bossi, Guillermo Pfening, Juana Repetto and Álvaro Navia — Juana displayed the look she had chosen for the evening and took the opportunity to address La Chiqui's health.
"Another Saturday here keeping you company while grandma finishes her recovery," she said, without providing further details on Mirtha's progress.
Viale then got the broadcast underway without further comment on the matter and made her way to the studio's traditional table to discuss current events with the various personalities from politics and local entertainment who took part in the show.
Shortly before the program ended, the host returned to the subject of La Chiqui's health and, in order to dispel doubts about her new hospitalization, clarified: "Before saying goodbye, I do want to say that my grandmother is hospitalized again, but it is for some check-ups."
"Everything is going to be fine. Next Saturday I'll be back hosting the program, so a little kiss to my grandmother," she concluded, with a message directed especially at Mirtha.
It is worth noting that, despite the caution Juana maintained during this Saturday's broadcast when speaking about her grandmother's health, it emerged that the host visited La Chiqui at the Sanatorio Mater Dei after finishing the tapings of La Noche de Mirtha and Almorzando con Juana.
Meanwhile, according to information obtained by Clarín, Mirtha Legrand had an "excellent" first night at the medical center, although she experienced some difficulty coughing, which is why doctors are closely monitoring her progress.
La Chiqui, for her part, is already eager to return home, something her family considers a positive sign. And while they are aware that any hospitalization must be taken seriously and requires close follow-up, her loved ones remain calm and optimistic about her overall condition.
Another relevant piece of information is that, after confirming Mirtha Legrand's admission due to a "condition compatible with lung disease," the Mater Dei Clinic reported that the host will remain hospitalized to undergo tests, receive treatment, and stay under medical supervision. They also indicated that, if there are no changes in her condition, they will issue a new medical report on Monday, September 20.
