UNITED NATIONS, September 25. /TASS/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is holding a meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly, a TASS correspondent reported.
The meeting began without opening remarks for the press and continued behind closed doors.
Guterres’s term as the UN secretary-general expires on December 31, 2026.
Earlier in the day, Lavrov met with President of Senegal Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan Ayman Safadi, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi, Co-Foreign Minister of Nicaragua Valdrack Jaentschke, Foreign Minister of the Dominican Republic Victor Bisono, Foreign Minister of Panama Javier Martinez-Acha, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Mali Abdoulaye Diop, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam Prince Abdul Mateen and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Also, the minister took part in the meeting "Russia - Small Island States of the South Pacific" and in a meeting with the Alliance of Sahel States.
