MOSCOW, October 2. /TASS/. The Russian Navy’s Baltic Fleet training ship Perekop has arrived at the port of Dar es Salaam in the United Republic of Tanzania, the fleet’s press service reported.
"A welcoming ceremony for the crew of the Perekop training ship took place at the port of Dar es Salaam. Representatives of the Russian military-diplomatic corps in the United Republic of Tanzania took part in the ceremony. On the part of Tanzania, the ship was greeted by representatives of the Tanzanian Navy and cadets from the Naval Academy," the press service reported.
According to the press service, 13 cadets from Tanzania, who are studying naval science in Russia, completed their navigation training aboard the ship and disembarked at the port of Dar es Salaam. In turn, the crew of the Perekop training ship and cadets from the Admiral Ushakov Baltic Naval Institute will visit the Russian Center for Science and Culture, where a concert featuring artistic groups from Russia and Tanzania will be held. Tours of local attractions are also planned for the crew and cadets.
During the training ship Perekop’s stay in the port of Dar es Salaam, a series of events is planned, including a soccer match and a tug-of-war competition between Russian and Tanzanian sailors.
The training ship Perekop’s navigational voyage began in early July and will last until mid-December 2026. In total, the ship is expected to cover approximately 30,000 nautical miles. Its route passes through the Northern Sea Route, four oceans, 14 seas, 23 straits, and nine gulfs.
