"We consider it our duty," the CRI stated, "to reiterate and specify that, according to the information in our possession and contrary to what was declared yesterday and reported by some media outlets this morning, the rescue crew performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers on the patient from the moment it was possible to intervene until the arrival of the medical response unit, whose intervention was requested from the operations center by the Italian Red Cross crew itself a few minutes after their arrival on the scene."
The Italian Red Cross once again expresses its condolences and closeness to the family of Abderrahim Fakir and its full willingness to cooperate with investigators and the AUSL – as declared from the outset – to shed full light on the tragic incident that occurred on Sunday in Bologna. "In addition to the resuscitation maneuvers," the CRI explained in a statement, "the crew used the defibrillator (AED) with which it is equipped, which has been handed over to the magistrates."
The phases of the rescue intervention just described, the Red Cross emphasized, "are not visible in the video initially circulated, but can be inferred from other videos subsequently shown by media outlets."
