Hundreds of web searches for articles about the Islamic State and Osama Bin Laden emerged during the unrepeatable technical examinations carried out on the devices used by Salim El Koudri, the 31-year-old attacker who on May 16 drove his car into pedestrians in the centre of Modena, causing the death of a woman who was among the eight people injured. This is reported by the Resto del Carlino of Modena and Il Giornale.
At present, the Digos of Modena and Bologna have not identified any direct connections between the suspect and individuals under suspicion. During the examinations carried out on El Koudri's devices, within the framework of the criminal proceedings in which the 31-year-old is being investigated for massacre, without premeditation or the aggravating circumstance of terrorism having been contested to date, hundreds of browsing sessions carried out by the young man over the last five years were analysed. Among these, searches on Wikipedia — of which news had already been given — relating to massacres in Europe and the war in the Middle East also emerged. On the devices, furthermore, as is already known, delirious videos were also found in which the young man utters incoherent phrases. Among these videos, as cited by the daily La Verità, which is previewing material that the programme Fuori dal coro will broadcast on Sunday, there is reportedly a video in which El Koudri shaves his beard a few hours before the attack. Among the other elements that have emerged, there are also said to be thousands of emails sent to companies in which the young man demanded to be hired, as well as the completion of application forms on the websites of local companies.
The psychiatric report on El Koudri is expected to be filed by the end of the month.
