A 37-year-old thief was seriously injured by a homeowner who caught him stealing. The incident occurred in Ramacca, in the province of Catania, where the 50-year-old spotted the hooded man in his home and intervened. A violent struggle ensued, during which the homeowner wounded the intruder with a kitchen knife. The thief, originally from Eastern Europe, fled but was tracked down a short distance from the property by Carabinieri from Palagonia. He is hospitalised in serious condition at the hospital in Caltagirone, where he is under guard as he is under arrest for residential burglary and aggravated personal injury.
