Navi Mumbai: A Mumbai resident, originally hailing from Gujarat, went missing on Thursday morning after being swept away in a river water current in Malvan taluka, Sindhudurg. The boat capsized with four people who were crossing a river to reach their farmland on the opposite side. The boat rider, Swapnil Vakkar, had successfully saved two others.
After learning about the incident, rescuers with scuba divers were deputed to the Amberi-Vakwadi river belt. Villages alongside the river stretch have been alerted to keep a watch on the water current. The local police have joined the rescuers for the search operation.
