"Culture is a productive sector capable of generating employment, added value, innovation and new skills." This was stated by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Giancarlo Giorgetti, in a recorded video broadcast at a Lega event in Filottrano (Ancona) to promote the candidacy of the Marche theatres for UNESCO World Heritage status.

"At a national level, the creative cultural system involves more than 621,000 workers, with 140,000 of these aged between 15 and 34," the minister added. "In the Marche region, according to the 'Io sono cultura' report, the regional productive cultural system involves more than 36,000 people and generates over 2 billion euros, accounting for 5% of the regional economy. These evolving figures show how culture, creativity and enterprise can be integrated. Municipal administrations have also allocated 27% of total municipal spending to the sector, a figure above the national average."
