From BYD cars to DJI drones, Guangdong showcases tech prowess ahead of Apec summit
As Shenzhen prepares to become third Chinese city to host the Apec Economic Leaders’ Meeting, the province arranges media visits to tech firms
As Shenzhen gears up for November’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit, the southern Chinese province in which it sits, Guangdong, is making sure its technological prowess also gains global attention.
The South China Morning Post took part in the visit to BYD, the world’s top electric car maker in terms of deliveries, in eastern Shenzhen.
The company showcased its latest new energy and automotive technology, with a Denza Z9GT premium sedan being charged to a range of 700km within about six minutes at minus 30 degrees Celsius (minus 22 degrees Fahrenheit).
Outside the office building, a Yangwang U9 super-coupe showcased its quad-motor all-wheel-drive system by rotating 360 degrees on the spot.
