MUMBAI: A viral social media video showing young men hanging beneath a railway bridge over the Bhayandar creek, about 12 metres above the water, performing pull-ups and painting graffiti has led to action against six people, including a minor, according to an RPF report.
The incident took place on August 9, when the group allegedly entered the railway premises without permission and climbed down beneath the bridge to film themselves performing stunts.
They also painted graffiti on the railway structure.
The video later went viral on social media, prompting the Railway Protection Force to trace those involved.
The five adults identified by the RPF are Kishab Deepak Lohana, 29, an accountant and graffiti artist; Kuljeet Singh, 21, a student; Amsal Khan, 18, a student and video editor; Tanish Sonawane, 18, a student and stunt performer; and Aditya Singh, 20, a student and stunt performer. The sixth participant, a 16-year-old, has not been named as he is a minor.
Investigators first traced Lohana through an Instagram account and the registration number of a scooter visible in his earlier videos.
He was contacted during an event at Khar Road on August 30 and appeared at the RPF office in Bhayandar the following day.
During questioning, Lohana allegedly identified Kuljeet Singh. Both told investigators they had visited the Bhayandar creek on August 9 to make art and perform stunts beneath the bridge.
Their statements helped investigators trace the remaining participants, who appeared before the RPF on September 1.
They allegedly admitted entering the railway area without permission, hanging beneath the bridge and performing pull-ups while making graffiti.
The five adults were produced before the railway court at Vasai Road on Tuesday.
The court fined each Rs 2,000 and sentenced them to one day of TRC, with all five paying the fines.
The minor was released into his father’s custody and directed to appear before the Juvenile Justice Board at Bhiwandi on September 4.
The RPF said all six have also released apology videos over the incident.
Further investigation is continuing.
