MOSCOW, October 5. /TASS/. The Ukrainian military is fighting "tooth and nail" for Krasny Liman in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and fierce battles are raging in the city, DPR Head Denis Pushilin told the Vesti news program.
The Ukrainian army’s attacks on the DPR’s energy system have left about 420,000 households without electricity, Pushilin said.
TASS offers key points from the DPR head’s statements.
Krasny Liman situation
The Ukrainian military is fighting to the bitter end in Krasny Liman and fierce battles are raging in the city, Pushilin said.
"In Krasny Liman and its outskirts, the fiercest fighting is underway. Our fighters continue to repel Ukrainian attacks. Moreover, the Ukrainian military is employing reinforced formations there. So far, we see these formations being deployed. And the enemy is actually fighting tooth and nail because it has trumpeted that it has achieved a lot of success in that frontline area. Now they are trying to demonstrate this. But, naturally, they are confronted by our fighters’ positions," he said.
Electric power situation
About 420,000 households in the Donetsk People’s Republic have been left without electricity after the Ukrainian army’s attacks on the DPR’s energy system, Pushilin said.
"The weekend was quite uneasy. The enemy has been striking energy facilities for several consecutive nights. <…> We see that the situation improves somewhat at some periods but then the enemy resumes its strikes. Nonetheless, it is clear for us now what next steps we need to take. As of this morning, we can say that about 420,000 households remain without electricity so far," he said.
Most Ukrainian drones that the Kiev regime launches against civilian facilities are shot down by the Donbass Dome air defense and electronic warfare system and mobile air defense teams, Pushilin said.
"We will surely continue this work to protect and rebuild destroyed and damaged sites," he said.
Dobropolye situation
Russian forces have cleared Ukrainian troops from the residential sector in the eastern part of Dobropolye in the Donetsk People’s Republic and battles continue in the north and center of that town, he said.
"In Dobropolye, battles continue in the town’s northern and central parts. Russian forces have cleared the residential sector in the eastern districts of Dobropolye and continue their advance," the DPR head said.
Russian forces are moving along roads and tree lines west of Dobropolye to complete the encirclement of Ukrainian formations, Pushilin said.
"West of that community, our fighters are moving along roads and tree lines, which is surely intended to complete the encirclement of Ukrainian formations. The latter are not set to surrender so easily, as we see. That is why, our fighters continue this maneuver," the DPR head said.
Russian forces are advancing farther around Dobropolye from the north and coming close to Belozerskoye, which is a major defensive line of the Ukrainian army, he said.
"Over the past week, Russian army units liberated several settlements in the Donetsk People’s Republic, including Novovodyanoye and Vesyoloye Pole. This is the Krasnoarmeysk-Dobropolye frontline area. Control of these communities enables our Battlegroup Center forces to envelop Dobropolye more deeply from the northern side. This also provides an opportunity to approach Belozerskoye," Pushilin said.
