BERLIN, October 18. /TASS/. A hole was discovered in the protective fence of Leipzig/Halle Airport late on Saturday evening and the police believe a car caused it, according Bild newspaper.
Three Russian An cargo aircraft that cannot leave Germany because of sanctions are parked near the site of the damage.
"After this incident, which is of significant importance from the safety perspective, flights in the northern part of the airport were suspended," the police said. "It is highly likely that a car drove through the fence, but during a nighttime inspection neither a car nor any unauthorized persons were found on the premises."
The investigation is ongoing.
