Mumbai: The Mumbai Suburban district collector has allowed the use of loudspeakers up to 12 midnight on Saturday, Oct 17 for the
Navratri festival. The relaxation has been allowed following appeals from various organisations, it being the weekend. BMC too has given its approval for the relaxation.
This is in addition to the use of loudspeakers on the 8th (Oct 18) and 9th (Oct 19) day of Navratri.
Loudspeakers can be used from 6 am to 12 midnight on all three days. However, the sound levels cannot breach the ambient air quality standards set for the area. In residential areas, it is 55 dB; commercial areas, 65 dB; and silence zones, 50 dB.
