MOSCOW, October 23. /TASS/. The Vladimir Zelensky regime continues to undermine negotiations despite growing hopes for a peace solution to the conflict, Leonid Slutsky, head of the LDPR party and a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told TASS, commenting on Ukrainian drone attacks on civilian infrastructure in Russia.
"The escalation of terrorist activity targeting Russia’s civilian population suggests that the Zelensky regime is once again seeking to derail negotiations. Zelensky does not want peace and fears presidential elections in Ukraine like the plague. There is little reason to expect any rational approach from those in power on Bankovaya Street," Slutsky said.
At the same time, he stressed that Russia had consistently regarded a negotiated settlement as the "preferred solution" to the conflict.
"However, it must be understood that none of the war crimes committed by this junta will go unanswered," the lawmaker concluded.
