"The Igloo and the Fibonacci sequence tell the story of the vital energy of nature that constantly renews itself: with this installation we believe that art serves as a stimulus and offers relief, reminding us that beauty is itself a fundamental part of human well-being and care." These words were spoken by the president of the Merz Foundation, Beatrice Merz, at the inauguration of the Mario Merz installation in front of the Candiolo National Cancer Institute, near Turin, a project through which the Allegra Agnelli Foundation for Cancer Research celebrates its first forty years. "We are delighted," she emphasised, "to stand alongside the Allegra Agnelli Foundation on this anniversary, bringing Mario Merz's work to a place of hope and care like Candiolo."
