The 10,000 signatures collected through a petition calling for the closure of headquarters and a ban on granting public and private spaces to neo-fascist groups present in the urban area were delivered today to the Municipality of Genoa by representatives of the Genoese antifascist movement. The petition invokes "respect for the Italian Constitution, the XII transitional and final provision, and the Scelba and Mancino laws," and expressly cites the presence in the city of organisations such as Casapound and Lealtà e Azione.
Today's event is the first of two gatherings for the formal delivery of the collected signatures. The signatures were handed over to Deputy Mayor Alessandro Terrile (the mayor was engaged in Rome for a meeting at the Viminale) and to the Deputy President of the City Council Francesca Ghio. The second appointment is scheduled for Thursday, 24 September 2026 at 5:30 pm in front of the Genoa prefecture, on which occasion the signatures will be delivered to the prefect. The petition was promoted by numerous antifascist associations and political forces: Anpi, Cgil, Arci, Italian Communist Party, Communist Party of Workers, Anticapitalist Left, Party of Communist Refoundation, Potere al Popolo!, Carc, Valpolcevera Antifascista, Emergency Genova, Rete dei Comitati, Music for Peace, Genova Antifascista and Communist Party of Popular Unity. Among the signatories is partisan fighter Giotto, Giordano Bruschi, 101 years old.
