Man caught ahead of Modi event in Mumbai may have forged PMO identity card using AI

Mumbai: The city crime branch probing the case of a 24-year-old man carrying a fake Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) identity card to enter Jio World Plaza, BKC, ahead of Prime Minister

Narendra Modi’s visit suspects his actions stemmed from a state of hallucination.

The man, identified as Rohan Parikh, was accompanied by his private armed bodyguard, Dilip Kunde, and a friend.

A team of Intelligence Bureau (IB), Research Analysis Wing (RAW) and Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) interrogated Rohan and Kunde, who is an ex-Armyman. Sources said Rohan admitted during interrogations that he had fabricated the ID card using AI tools.

Initially, during inquiries, Rohan told the police he was a victim of a fake email sent by one Jai Shankar. However, the police checked with PMO’s office in Delhi, which confirmed they had not issued any such ID card and that the ID is a fake one.

“During the inquiry, we were told that Rohan is a special child who turns aggressive at times and is moody. The family claims he is normal, but we will record his parents’ statements to understand him,” said a police source. “We are also planning to do his psychological analysis to understand as to what is the motive behind doing this,” he added.

Rohan allegedly told investigators that he had lied about his identity and official assignment and that his intention was to show off his connections and gain praise from people around him and flaunt his purported connections.

His digital identity card, which he flashed from his mobile phone, appears to have been forged using AI tools.

Parikh was arrested along with Kunde while the third accused is on the run. Parikh claimed he was a scientist on a special assignment from Prime Minister’s Office. Police suspect that the accused had prepared forged identity cards to support his claim.

Police are also examining the digital devices used by Parikh to make the fake ID cards and whether any other persons assisted him. Police are also verifying his claims about his alleged connections and the purpose behind his attempt to enter the high-security venue.
