SEOUL, October 3. /TASS/. The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) of the Republic of Korea (ROK) said that a ballistic missile launched by the DPRK military flew more than 700 km, the Yonhap news agency reported.

Earlier, Seoul reported that a ballistic missile was fired toward the Sea of Japan from the Wonsan area at approximately 6:30 a.m. local time (21:30 GMT Friday / 00:30 a.m. Moscow time Saturday).

In response to the launch, the National Security Office of the ROK presidential administration held an emergency meeting to review military readiness and assess the security impact.

"Ballistic missile launches not only violate UN Security Council resolutions but also destabilize the current situation. We strongly urge an immediate end to such actions," the presidential administration said following the meeting.

According to Seoul, the DPRK last launched ballistic missiles on September 20.
