MOSCOW, October 28. /TASS/. Trade between Russia and Libya continues to develop despite the challenging international political and economic environment, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with Chairman of Libya’s Presidential Council Mohamed al-Menfi.

"Despite the difficult situation in international politics and the economy, bilateral trade continues to develop. The first meeting of the co-chairs of the joint intergovernmental commission took place in Moscow in April. We are, of course, interested in resuming its full-fledged activities as soon as possible," the Russian leader said.

Putin noted that Libya is a longstanding partner of Russia in North Africa, with 2025 marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. "Cooperation on multilateral platforms, particularly within the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, at the Moscow summit in which we both participated, as well as within OPEC+, enables us to jointly develop measures to ensure global energy security," the president added.

He also said he looked forward to productive and meaningful cooperation between Russia and Libya at the third Russia-Africa Summit, which begins on Wednesday.
