MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. The cryptocurrency exchange Binance has suspended all deposit and withdrawal operations following a reported hacker attack, the management announced in a statement on its social media platform X.
"As a precaution, all deposits and withdrawals are temporarily suspended while our team conducts security checks, freezes funds, and works with law enforcement," the statement reads. "We are working non-stop to resolve this issue. Binance will cover all losses."
The company also notes that the volume of frozen funds on the Binance exchange after a likely hacker attack amounted to about $3 billion, while it was previously reported that the losses amounted to $2.5 billion.
"We are working around the clock and will share a full post-mortem once the investigation is complete," the statement added.
Former CEO of the cryptocurrency exchange Binance Changpeng Zhao earlier stated that the platform could have been hacked.
Binance’s current managing authorities reported that its specialists are aware of reports about a possible security issue and are conducting an active investigation.
