Justice Minister Carlo Nordio transmitted to the Rome General Prosecutor's Office last night the International Criminal Court dossier relating to the arrest warrant request for Libyan general Osama Almasri. The dossier was transmitted a few days after the Constitutional Court's ruling that declared unlawful the interpretation of the regulation adopted at the time by his ministry, emphasising that the Minister of Justice was required to "immediately transmit to the prosecutor general at the Rome Court of Appeal the cooperation requests of the International Criminal Court, unless he communicates to the same Court of Appeal a reasoned declaration not to proceed with such requests due to the need to protect overriding constitutional principles."
