US Military Attacks Iran – Strikes in the Twelfth Consecutive Night
It is the twelfth consecutive night of strikes: the US military has once again attacked targets in Iran. US President Trump had previously escalated his threats against the country.
The US military continued its attacks on Iran overnight. It was the twelfth consecutive nightly wave of strikes.
The target was military infrastructure in the country, the responsible regional command Centcom stated on the online service X. The strikes were aimed at "further degrading Iran's ability to threaten civilian sailors and commercial vessels in the region's waters." The United States is attempting to regain control of the Strait of Hormuz and restore international shipping traffic.
The night before, air raid sirens had been heard in the capital Tehran for the first time since the latest escalation of the war.
New Threats from Trump
Trump had once again threatened to destroy civilian infrastructure in Iran: the United States would "bomb and destroy" a bridge or power plant in Iran every time the Islamic Republic fired on a ship in the Strait of Hormuz, he wrote on his platform Truth Social. Bridges and power plants in Tehran or near the capital would also be targeted.
The leadership in Tehran responded with threats of its own. In the event of US attacks on Iran's infrastructure, there would be massive retaliation, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on X. "Our defense policy is clear: an eye for an eye."
