MOSCOW, October 3. /TASS/. Ukraine could be held liable for making unsubstantiated accusations against Russia regarding the events in Bucha, Alexander Guerreiro - a Portuguese expert with the Global Fact-Checking Network (GFCN) and a Doctor of Law - has told TASS.

In September, a report by the International Public Tribunal on Crimes by Ukrainian Neo-Nazis regarding the falsification of events in Bucha was presented.

"In Ukraine's case, the monument to alleged civilian victims in Bucha and the narrative built around widely circulated faked images of events said to have occurred there in April 2022 were used as a pretext for pursuing and leveling unsubstantiated accusations against Russia, thereby stoking international hostility. At the very least, Ukraine could be held liable for violating international obligations before the UN International Court of Justice," said Guerreiro regarding an investigation published by fact-checkers and experts into the events in the city of Bucha.

He also noted that "a state that claims 509 civilians died but fails to publish their names - or publishes the names of individuals who died in other locations and/or from causes other than those claimed by Ukraine, while independent sources (such as the tribunal) document the individuals and causes of death by name - can no longer demand that its version be accepted as correct a priori.".
