Richard Carapaz wins the queen stage of the Tour de France, 171 kilometres from Le Bourg d'Oisans to Alpe d'Huez with 5,500 metres of elevation gain, doubling up on Thursday's success at Orcières Merlette. The Ecuadorian, among the day's breakaway riders, also secures the polka dot jersey for best climber. Second place goes to Remco Evenepoel, who drops both Tadej Pogačar and Isaac del Toro: though in the Slovenian's case it is a deliberate choice to give up the stage and remain alongside his teammate, who consolidates third place on the podium. Tomorrow, the triumphant procession to Paris for Pogačar.
