MOSCOW, October 30. /TASS/. Russia and Sudan have discussed projects to develop oil fields and expand the power sector, with both sides expressing interest in their joint implementation, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in an interview with the Vesti news program.
"We have just discussed with Sudan, among other things, a project to develop oil fields and the electricity sector. Our partners are interested in the joint implementation of such projects," Novak said.
He noted that state-run oil explorer Zarubezhneft has already signed a memorandum of understanding. "We are now ready to move on to concrete discussions," the Deputy Prime Minister added.
Earlier, Eltahir Mohamed, Director of the Oil Exploration and Production Department at Sudan's Energy Ministry, stated that Zarubezhneft could expand its presence in Sudan, as the country's authorities are prepared to offer the company new blocks for oil exploration and production.
