Celebration and Get Down On It have continued to dominate for nearly fifty years as worldwide hits, and have rightfully made Kool & The Gang champions of disco music. Multiple Grammy Award winners, the American band will take the stage in Rome on July 21st, ready to transform the Cavea of the Auditorium Parco della Musica into a massive open-air discotheque.
Born in Jersey City from an idea by brothers Ronald and Robert 'Kool' Bell, Kool & The Gang made their debut in 1969 with the album bearing the group's name. The Seventies were the years of funk and soul, during which they established themselves with hits such as Jungle Boogie, Hollywood Swinging and Summer Madness (featured on the soundtrack of the film "Rocky", with Sylvester Stallone), through to the track Open Sesame, included in 1977 among the hits of the memorable "Saturday Night Fever". In the '80s they conquered the top of the charts around the world with Ladies Night, Too Hot and, above all, with Celebration, which became a true anthem. And then the other hits — from Get Down On It, to Joanna, Cherish and Fresh — along with appearances at events such as "Live Aid" consolidated their international fame. Together with Earth, Wind & Fire and a handful of other groups, they are among the most "danced-to" bands in the world. They have received the BET Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award (2014), a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (2015) and induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (2018). In 2019, Celebration was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and included in the National Recording Registry, while a street in Jersey City was renamed "Kool & the Gang Way". Last year they were also nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: led by founder Robert 'Kool' Bell, with a horn section boasting an unmistakable sound and a rhythm section with a unique groove, they never cease to enchant and get fans dancing all over the world with their timeless hits.
