Former Jetstar pilot Greg Lynn has been denied bail, as he waits to face a retrial over the alleged murder of Victorian retiree Carol Clay.

Mr Lynn is charged with murdering Ms Clay at a remote Victorian campsite in 2020.

Ms Clay's companion Russell Hill also died, but Mr Lynn was acquitted in relation to his death.

A short time ago, Victorian Supreme Court Chief Justice Richard Niall denied bail, saying the time Mr Lynn had spent on remand did not amount to exceptional circumstances.

Mr Lynn has been in of custody since his arrest in November 2021.

His trial is scheduled for mid next year.
