TV Globo host Luciano Huck, 54, celebrated on Thursday (30th) on Instagram the acceptance of his son Benício, 18, into a university in São Paulo. The young man was accepted to Insper to study industrial engineering.
"Proud parents!!! Congratulations Beni!!! All your effort and dedication paid off!!!", wrote Huck.
In June, Benício had already gone viral after saying he was preparing for the entrance exam at the institution, where the monthly tuition for the course is R$8,300.
The acceptance reverberated on social media because it involves the son of two well-known television personalities, and led internet users to question the choice of course.
He is not the only one interested in the field. In Sisu 2026, there are 115 undergraduate industrial engineering offerings across the country. At UFRJ, according to the director of the Polytechnic School, Sérgio Lima Netto, in an interview with Folha in April, the course is the most sought-after among all engineering disciplines in absolute numbers.
Unlike most engineering courses, industrial engineering is less focused on calculations and more centered on people and process management, requiring communication and teamwork. For this reason, it is also frequently chosen by students who already have their sights set on moving into the financial market.
The degree trains professionals to manage and optimize processes, production systems, services and supply chains. It is considered a "transversal" engineering field, as it examines the manufacturing process of a product from end to end, rather than focusing on an isolated stage.
The curriculum typically combines mathematics, data science, technology, management, innovation and sustainability, with an emphasis on practical learning.
According to professors in the field, the industrial engineer is a "problem solver," with analytical thinking geared toward improving the quality and efficiency of processes, whether in a factory or a logistics network.
Fields of work include logistics, transportation, manufacturing, retail, energy and agribusiness, as well as sectors such as finance and healthcare, which have been impacted by digital transformation.
Due to this analytical foundation, industrial engineers are highly sought after by the financial market and consulting firms, in addition to holding leadership and management positions at companies across different industries.
