MINSK, October 2. /TASS/. Russia expects industrial cooperation within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) to expand, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting between Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and the heads of delegations participating in a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

"The further expansion of industrial cooperation is a key focus of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. As you know, a supranational mechanism has been launched to support joint projects in this area using funds from the Union budget. Eight initiatives are already being implemented with its support. We expect their number to grow, including because we have made such assistance available to enterprises in the agro-industrial sector. We will focus our efforts on identifying and thoroughly developing projects that take into account the strong competencies of the Union countries," Mishustin said.

According to him, the Intergovernmental Council meeting is also discussing the development of transport infrastructure and a common electricity market, ensuring food security, as well as preparations for new free trade agreements with potential partners of the five EAEU member states.
