MOSCOW, October 21. /TASS/. Russia’s state corporation Rostec is developing and manufacturing strike drones with performance characteristics on par with those of cruise missiles, the corporation said.
"As technology advances, the distinction between a drone, a cruise missile, and a loitering munition is disappearing. The Dan-T is already a full-fledged cruise missile in terms of its capabilities. The Rostec State Corporation is working to advance this field, and several other comparable projects are underway. These systems are becoming increasingly intelligent – all of them feature elements of artificial intelligence to one degree or another.
The next models, which we will be able to present as early as next year, will fly farther, faster, and will be considerably more advanced in terms of intelligence," Rostec said in a video presentation of its latest Dan-T aerial strike drone.
The state corporation presented this system at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026 in Egypt.
About the munition
The Dan-T is a loitering munition with a range of up to 450 km. With a weight of up to 270 kilograms and equipped with a compact turbojet engine, it can be launched from both aircraft and helicopters. The Dan-T is designed to fly in stealth mode to evade air defense systems and operates fully autonomously after launch from its carrier. The munition can approach its target at speeds of up to 500 km/h while following the terrain, thereby reducing the likelihood of interception by enemy air defense systems.
The Dan-T can be launched from Russian-designed aircraft and helicopters, including the Yak-130, MiG-29, Mi-28N, and Mi-8. It can also be integrated with foreign combat aircraft.
As Rostec told TASS, the munition’s effectiveness has been confirmed by hundreds of successful launches against enemy targets during the special military operation in Ukraine.
