After Cyberattack, Berlin Senate Administration Back Fully Online
The Berlin administration is back completely online. Following a cyberattack, parts of the Senate administration had been cut off from the IT network for several days, with various services restricted. The background circumstances are still being investigated.
The two Berlin Senate administrations affected by the cyberattack have been reconnected to the state network. The Senate Chancellery announced this on Sunday evening. After the cyberattack was discovered on August 14, the Senate administrations for Urban Development, Building and Housing as well as for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment had been isolated from the state's data network for security reasons.
The two Senate administrations had initiated measures to enhance the IT security of their systems, the Senate Chancellery announced. With the reintegration into the state network, all services that had been restricted over the past few days are expected to be available again. Among other things, housing benefit applications had not been possible. However, isolated disruptions and delays could not be ruled out, it was stated. In addition, forensic investigations are continuing and will be ongoing in the coming weeks as well.
