Two men have been seriously injured after their vehicle was struck by a giant mining truck at a Central Queensland coal site.
One man has been taken to Moranbah Hospital from the Peak Downs site in a potentially life-threatening condition, with chest pain and leg injuries.
The second man was trapped inside the vehicle, and has suffered life-threatening injuries.
The vehicle was struck just before 5am, and emergency services remain at the scene.
Resources Health and Safety Queensland Chief Executive Claire Cooper said investigators and coal inspectors had been deployed to the site, and the organisation was working closely with the Queensland Police Service and the Queensland Ambulance Service to respond to the incident.
Peak Downs is an open-pit coal mine opened in 1972, owned by BMA, the 50:50 joint venture between BHP and Mitsubishi Development.
