KALININGRAD, October 9. /TASS/. Nineteen foreigners are aboard a cargo vessel that was driven ashore by a storm in the settlement of Yantarnoye in Russia’s westernmost Kaliningrad Region, the regional department of the Russian emergencies ministry told TASS.
"There are 19 people aboard the vessel. No distress signal has been issued," a spokesman said, adding that, according to preliminary data, all the 19 are foreign nationals.
According to earlier reports, a cargo ship ran aground during a storm while sailing along the Baltic coast in the Kaliningrad Region. No one was hurt.
On October 9, wind velocity in the Kaliningrad Region reached up to 27 meters a second. A storm warning was issued in the regional capital, and a high-alert regime was put in place.
