MOSCOW, October 8. /TASS/. Around 2.5 mln tourists have visited agritourism facilities established with support from the Russian Agriculture Ministry, Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut said.

"We began providing grants for this sector in 2022. More than 2.5 bln rubles have been allocated to our farmers. Currently, 360 agritourism projects are receiving government support, and another 100 agricultural producers are expected to receive assistance this year. Around 1,000 additional jobs have been created at agritourism facilities over this period. The number of tourists who have visited these facilities, specifically those supported by us, stands at around 2.5 mln," Lut said.

She noted that most visitors come from large cities and are interested in learning how agriculture is developing.

According to the minister, agritourism is not only an additional source of income but also a means of supporting the rural economy and promoting rural areas across the country.
