NEW YORK, October 31. /TASS/. The United States may resume strikes on Iran the day after the midterm elections to Congress, the MS NOW television network reported, citing sources.

According to the sources, the US administration has informed several Persian Gulf countries that they should prepare for "a short, intense round of strikes as soon as November 4."

Washington's allies in the Persian Gulf are reportedly trying to de-escalate the situation, fearing Iranian retaliation if the attacks resume. An unnamed regional official said it would come as no surprise if some Persian Gulf countries opposed US forces launching strikes from bases located on their territory.

The US and Israel began the war against Iran on February 28. In June, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding providing for an immediate end to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon. However, overnight into July 8, the US resumed large-scale strikes on Iran, accusing it of violating the provisions concerning the Strait of Hormuz. The US administration subsequently signaled that it was ending large-scale military action against Iran and shifting to a strategy of economic strangulation through sanctions.
