A 65-year-old man died last night on Via Martinez in Licata, in the province of Agrigento. The man, struck by a sudden illness, fainted while walking along the road and a passing car, failing to notice the body lying on the asphalt, ran him over. It was the driver himself, now in shock, who called the carabinieri. It is unclear whether the victim had already died as a result of the sudden illness — currently considered the most likely hypothesis — or whether he died as a consequence of the impact with the vehicle. Carabinieri and a forensic doctor attended the scene.
