Olympic champion Noah Lyles claims the US national title, equalling his personal best time (the 9.79 seconds with which he won gold in Paris), which also stands as the world-leading time of the season. Second place went to veteran Ronnie Baker, who narrowly edged out Kenny Bednarek in third, both clocking 9.88 seconds. Former world champion Christian Coleman finished fourth.
"I think I've proven that I'm still the fastest man in the world," said the 29-year-old Lyles. "Just because it's an off year (with neither the World Championships nor the Olympics, ed.) doesn't mean I intend to run slow: this is me, and being myself means being dominant and consistent."
