Media Reports: Health Minister Warken Set to Become Head of the Chancellery
The cabinet reshuffle is taking shape: according to media reports, Nina Warken is set to become the new head of the Chancellery — with CDU Secretary General Linnemann taking over the Health Ministry from her.
According to media reports, Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz has made his decision on the cabinet reshuffle. Health Minister Nina Warken is to become the new head of the Chancellery, according to reports from Bild, Spiegel and FAZ, among others.
Warken, in turn, is to be replaced by current CDU Secretary General Carsten Linnemann. The 47-year-old Warken would thereby succeed Thorsten Frei, who is set to be elected as the new parliamentary group leader by the CDU/CSU Bundestag faction on the coming Wednesday.
Reshuffle Following Resignation
The reshuffle became necessary after former faction leader Jens Spahn resigned on Saturday. Merz could present his decision on Friday morning in Berlin, the Reuters news agency reports. However, it was also noted that the CDU leader still intended to hold a number of meetings on Thursday evening.
