MODENA – The 55-year-old woman struck during the attack in the centre of Modena on 16 May last did not survive. This was announced by the Ausl di Modena. The patient, initially hospitalised in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit of the Maggiore hospital of the Azienda Usl di Bologna, had in recent weeks been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of the Baggiovara civil hospital, part of the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Modena, where she passed away this morning. The toll from that afternoon of terror, in which Salim El Koudri drove a car at extremely high speed into the pedestrian area of Via Emilia Centro, has thus worsened: one person dead and seven seriously injured.

The woman's condition, the statement continues, "appeared critical from the outset and, despite all possible medical and surgical approaches having been attempted, she never regained consciousness, until her condition deteriorated irreversibly. The family, in accordance with the wishes previously expressed by the woman, gave their consent to organ donation. The management, doctors and nursing staff of the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria, Azienda Usl di Modena and Azienda Usl di Bologna wish to express their deepest condolences to the patient's family."
