An envelope containing a bullet along with a letter featuring threatening phrases was delivered in recent days to Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara, who filed a report with the Carabinieri. Expressions of solidarity came from several political figures, starting with his cabinet colleague for Universities Anna Maria Bernini, who wrote on social media: "Dissent is free, criticism is legitimate, intimidation and violence never will be. My solidarity goes to Minister Valditara for the serious threats he has received."
"I express my full solidarity, and that of the Government, with Minister Giuseppe Valditara for the serious threats he has received." This was stated on social media by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. "A bullet and a threatening letter are cowardly acts of intimidation that have no place in a democracy," she added. "We trust in the work of the law enforcement agencies to shed full light on what happened, and in a clear and unanimous condemnation from all political forces."
"To the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, the recipient of an envelope containing a bullet and a letter with threatening phrases, I wish to extend my full and heartfelt solidarity, with the hope that the perpetrators of this act can be swiftly identified by the competent authorities." This was declared by Ignazio La Russa, President of the Senate of the Republic.
